  7. Transcribe in a quiet environment<\/strong> without background noises.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. When receiving bad-quality audio, filter unwanted noise and enhance the audio<\/strong> with an audio enhancer or sound editor so you can hear the voices better. Some transcription software, including Express Scribe has an audio cleanup tool that can remove background noises.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

  15. Have a team of experienced transcriptionists available t<\/strong>o help you with overload work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  16. Set up templates<\/strong> for commonly used documents and features.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  17. Learn formatting features<\/strong> you\u2019ll often use in transcripts like indents, tabs, headers, footers and page numbering. Knowing those well will increase your speed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  18. Learn keyboard shortcuts, macros, and word expanders<\/strong> to speed up your transcripts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  19. Set up stylesheets<\/strong> for commonly used features.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  20. Relisten to any audio parts that are unclear <\/strong>as many times as needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  21. While transcribing, indicate any words you\u2019re not sure of<\/strong> to review later.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  22. Avoid inaudibles<\/strong> as much as possible. But if some words are really inaudible or unintelligable, indicate them in the transcript with a timestamp, e.g. \u201c(inaudible at 00:23:22)\u201d so that your editor and your client can quickly find them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

  24. After finishing the transcription, listen to the entire recording a second time.<\/strong> You\u2019ll often catch words you didn\u2019t understand the first time after becoming familiar with the content of the recording.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  25. Spellcheck, proofread, and edit<\/strong> the transcript thoroughly. Check spelling, punctuation, and grammar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  26. Have a rigorous quality assurance system in place.<\/strong> Have a different proofreader or editor check the transcripts to ensure they are accurate and error-free.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  27. Use encryption f<\/strong>or secure file transfer and protect your computer and files with firewalls and passwords.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
