Here are some of their requirements:

• Terescription’s transcriptionists have to be US based.
• You must sign confidentiality agreements.
• Transcripts have to be 99% accurate
• Delivery turnaround time (TAT) options include 24, 36, 48, and 72 hours.
• You must be able to type, spell, punctuate, and capitalize accurately.
• You must have high-speed Internet.
• You must use a foot pedal.
• You must be able to follow written instructions. All training will take place via email and online training videos.
• You will download a sample media file and create an original transcript using instructions available at their website. Your transcript will be analyzed for accurately following instructions, correct formatting, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. You can transcribe the sample without a pedal.
• If your sample transcript is acceptable, you will need to fax the signed Independent Contractor Agreement and Exhibit A.  You'll have to provide your telephone number and Social Security number.

Terescription mentions the following on their web site:

“We recognize the need for professional, experienced and specialized media transcriptionists to ensure that our media transcription services deliver premium-quality media transcripts. We employ a team of media transcription professionals who have demonstrated exceptional skill in this field of transcription and who have had years of experience in their profession.”

An old press release states:

“We have a small army of virtual transcribers working in locations from all over the country… Creating jobs for people in rural areas is part of the mission of Terescription.  We have staffed up and are continually contracting more people on a weekly basis so we can handle any turnaround time and any volume of work.”

Terescription mentions the following about their pay:

“We allow our you to choose between two billing methods.  You can choose between a flat transcription rate for each recorded minute or choose a per typed line method.  You can even mix and match requesting different methods for different transcripts.” They don't quote how much they pay.

Two websites quoted that “Terescription pays $.07/line for a one-person interview and potentially more for multiple-speaker interviews.” (I don’t know if those rates are accurate.)
