3Play Media is Recruiting Transcription Editors

Hey there! Some links on this page are affiliate links which means that, if you choose to make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I greatly appreciate your support!

3Play Media is often hiring remote transcription editors. They have jobs for English transcription editors and Spanish transcription editors.

In addition to remote transcription jobs, 3Play Media also has a variety of in-house jobs in their Boston office. You can find their available jobs on their web page.

3Play Media is known for providing audio description for Media and Entertainment industries.

Audio Description narrates the relevant visual information contained in a video and is an accommodation for blind and low-vision viewers. These descriptions fit into natural pauses in the video’s audio track to provide context, to clarify speakers, and to articulate visual elements that are critical to gaining a comprehensive understanding of the video.

At the time of this review, 3Play Media is recruiting transcription editors. Transcription editors edit imperfect transcription using their proprietary internet-based software application.

You do NOT need to have transcription experience to work for them but you have to be able to pass the test and do the work.

Remote English Transcription Editor Jobs

This is a remote transcription job.  As a contract transcriptionist/editor, you decide which projects to accept, how much you work, and when and where you perform your work.

If you're interested in the Spanish transcription editing jobs, you can find more information on their website.

  • Excellent command of English usage, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Experience with computer word processing.
  • Typing ability of at least 75 wpm.

Pay:

The company mentions that the compensation for the remote transcription editor jobs is project-based and equivalent to $10 – $30 per hour, depending on your efficiency.

According to reviews of some of their transcribers, $15 to $20 per hour is more realistic once you get used to the work.

Of course, if you can work fast you will be able to do more work and make more money per hour than someone who is slow. Your earnings will also vary depending on the project. Some more difficult jobs will pay more than others.

You get paid monthly through a bank deposit or by check.  Payments are made on time.

My comments:

  • The pay is higher than most transcription companies.
  • There is a learning curve.
  • A common complaint is that there is not always work available. The same is true for most transcription companies are more people are working from home and more people are competing for the same jobs.
  • You'll have tighter deadlines than most transcription jobs.
  • This company has a good reputation. They have high standards. Make sure to follow their rules and guidelines before submitting your application or tests.

The application process is extensive but some transcriptionists say it's worth it. First, you have to send in your application. Then, you'll need to pass 5 tests. You’ll need to pass each test to be able to access the next ones. The test are not easy.  After the tests, you will be trained before being able to access transcription jobs.

If you're totally new at transcription, you may want to start with some transcription companies that are easier to get in.
