How to Avoid Data Entry Scams

Hey there! Some links on this page are affiliate links which means that, if you choose to make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I greatly appreciate your support!

There are many legitimate, remote data entry jobs out there. But there are also many data entry scams.

And one of the hardest parts about finding legitimate data entry gigs is weeding out the scams.

I want you to be very careful when responding to freelance data entry jobs and data entry business opportunities.

In this post, I'm exposing some of the common data entry scams so you'll learn how you can avoid them and get real data entry jobs from home.

Avoid these data entry scams

1 – Get paid for filling out forms SCAM

Stay away from work offers related to “making money by filling out forms.”

They are not real data entry jobs or typing jobs.

What this scam promises you:

Choose a product from their database, type a short ad promoting that product and submit the ad. The companies selling these products will then pay you for simply typing a short ad describing their product.

What you get: You will NOT get paid for each form you fill out. Instead, you need to place ads and pay for the advertising. And you'll only get paid when you sell products through your ads.

The misrepresentation: They'll tell you to promote affiliate programs but disguise it as data entry jobs and home typing jobs.

What data entry scam sites don’t tell you: You will be typing ads and paying advertising fees. Here's how this scam works:

  • You will be entering data into forms to create ads for Google AdWords Google or other pay-per-click search engines and promote affiliate products.
  • You'll pay for advertising. “Pay per click” means that you'll pay a fee every time someone clicks on your ad even if the click doesn't result in a sale. And if you don't have any experience with pay-per-click advertising, you can lose money faster than you'll make money.

Don't be misled by pictures that show the seller of the data entry job (scam) in front of an expensive mansion, car or boat and impressive income statements. Images of the income statements don’t prove anything as Photoshop can do a great job creating images and changing numbers.

2 – The “typing classified advertisements into online forms” SCAM

This scam is similar to the above one. You will get a commission when someone buys the products you advertise in the ads. With this scam, instead of paying for advertising, you have to post a large amount of free classified ads or do some other types of free promotions. You’ll spend your time instead of money to promote affiliate programs.

  • You will not get paid to fill out forms online.
  • You will not get paid to type.
  • You will not get paid hourly or by project.
  • You will spend your time typing ads to promote affiliate products.

You won't get real data entry work when responding to those “filling in forms” scams.

The problem is the misrepresentation. You're expecting to be paid to do data entry jobs or typing jobs. But instead, you're getting a useless course on how to promote affiliate products.

There is nothing wrong with affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing has huge income possibilities.

But you don’t need to join a data entry site or pay any fees to be able to join affiliate networks.

And you don't need to become a member or pay a membership to become an affiliate.

Joining affiliate networks or directories and becoming an affiliate to sell other people's products is free.

You just fill in an application form to join their affiliate program.

Don't pay a scammer to join affiliate networks, affiliate directories or affiliate programs!
